Updated 01/29/2021

After some feedback from the league, we are not implementing the changes sent out earlier this week.  Below is a summary of each level.

We will keep the 22 min halves for all levels except 8u.

There are no timeouts at any level of play.

Standing Neutral Grip (SNG) is the faceoff format we are following at all levels.  Here is a link on it:

One video on SNG - https://youtu.be/eCOBkbwYvOY

12u and 14u (10v10) follow USL rules with exception of timing and timeouts.

10U (7V7) –

  *  Subs on dead balls only.  No subbing on the fly.
  *  1 pass required prior to shooting (pass may be dropped as long as team maintains possession)
  *  No long poles
  *  No counts (10 or 20) on these games.  Goalie 4 second count still in effect.
  *  Players start at GLE on a faceoff and release on the ‘possession’ call after the faceoff.

12U (7v7) –

  *  Shortened field so portable creases are needed
  *  1 pass required prior to shooting (pass may be dropped as long as team maintains possession)
  *  2 long poles maximum on the field at a time
  *  No counts (10 or 20) on these games.  Goalie 4 second count still in effect.
  *  Players start on GLE on a faceoff and release on the ‘possession’ call after a faceoff.
  *  No quick restart rule in effect

14U (8v8) –

  *  8v8 or 7v7 (coaches discretion at the beginning of the game).
  *  Goalie starts with ball after a goal (no faceoffs).
  *  Faceoffs to start each quarter (4 max per game).
  *  1 pass required prior to shooting (pass may be dropped as long as team maintains possession).
  *  2 long poles maximum on the field at a time.
  *  Use full size fields with markings (no temp creases needed).
  *  No counts (10 or 20) on these games.  Goalie 4 second count still in effect.
  *  Players start on GLE on a faceoff and release on the ‘possession’ call after a faceoff.
  *  No quick restart rule in effect.

AYL is implementing a Mercy Rule at all levels (except 8U):

Mercy Rule - When a team has a minimum 7 goal lead, the trailing team may elect not to faceoff and start with the ball at center X.
When the score narrows below 7 goals, faceoffs are reinstated.
